    Tracking In Canada

Somewhere north of the Wisconsin border lies the magical tracking lands of Canada. Depending on where in Wisconsin our members live the trip north to track can be a trip of only a few hours to a marathon drive of a dozen hours (or more). In any case, heading north to track is a fun and enjoyable experience. Although there are several differences between AKC and CKC tracking regulations, in most cases your dog will not notice. The big differences you may see include your dog will not need to be certified to participate in a TD test, finding that the Test Secretary may enter their own test and the rather unusual fact that you may run a track plotted by your tracklayer and not your judge. Don't worry, normally the tracklayer remembers where the track was plotted and can tell your judge whether you are on or off track. Like in the States, use your checkbook as your voice. Check out your judge, make sure you believe they are experienced enough and qualified to judge your dog. Other than that, the thing we find most common is learning that almost everyone ends almost every statement with a resounding eh!.

The Canadian Kennel Club offers five tracking titles. They are Tracking Dog (TD), Tracking Dog Excellent (TDX), Urban Tracking Dog (UTD), Urban Tracking Dog Excellent (UTDX) and Tracking Champion (TCh).
