University of Wisconsin Whitewater, WI Judges - Ed Presnall & Jerry Lewis TCoW'S FIRST TEST! TCoW held its first licensed TD Test November 27th 2005 at the Lawcon Recreation Center area adjoining the UW-Whitewater Campus in Whitewater. The judges were Ed Presnall and Jerry Lewis. Curt Curtis, AKC Director of Companion Events, and Betty Winthers, AKC Tracking Field Representative were both in attendance at the test and plotting day. We received eight entries for the three dog TD test. The alternate track was also used as a titling track. English Cocker Spaniel dog, Spindrift Fox River ObaTanga CD RN WD owned by Andrea Pease from DePere passed on track number three. The three other participants were an English Springer Spaniel, a Vizsla, and a Belgian Tervern who unfortunately did not find the glove this time. The test Chair/Secretary was Shawne Gamroth. Ellen McCredie did a fabulous job with hospitality. Lisa Schaitberger drove handlers and their dogs to and from their tracks. Tracklayers were Ellen McCredie, Renea Desorcy, Barb Koch, and Sue Aldene. The Head Tracklayer was Lois Ballard, who also Apprentice judged at the test. "To have the opportunity to see first hand the expression on a handler's face when their dog indicates that glove is SPECIAL. I experienced that Sunday when Andrea and her English Cocker Spaniel passed his TD. All the other teams showed me they are close to getting their titles." "We plotted the tracks on Saturday. The weather was cold and it had snowed the night before, but the sky was clear, blue, and sunny, which made plotting enjoyable. When we got up Sunday it had rained and the temperature had warmed up, melting the snow and making the fields perfect for tracking. We were fortunate to have present the AKC Director of Companion Events - Curt Curtis, and the AKC Tracking Representative - Betty Winthers. They were there to help if needed and observe us in judging the test and match. They were very helpful and supportive of the events. Their experience and global understanding of tracking will help in organizing future events." "The TCoW members can be proud of the way they organized this event. The tracklayers were very efficient and fun to work with: Ellen, Renea, Barb, Sue, Jona, and Shawne. The Test Secretary, Shawne, provided me with all the necessary paper work in a professional format -- which made my job easy. The Chief Tracklayer, Lois coordinated and provided the necessary information in a timely manner, thus keeping the event on schedule. Everybody's hard work paid off and yielded a successful event. The hospitality was great. Abundant food, all of which made everybody feel good after being exposed to a light rain all day. It was a pleasure for me to help judge and work with Ed in this TD test and VST match." Jerry L. Lewis, Urbandale, Iowa ![]() (left to right) Lerry L.
